The minutes of the ordinary meeting of the council held on Tuesday 5th July 2005 were approved without amendment.

4.1

Parish Plan

Comments have been received from Councillors and Herefordshire Council (HC). There will be a meeting with HC later this month.

4.2

Llancillo Signs

Councillor Berris Williams reported that Stephen Oates had confirmed that Herefordshire Council were not prepared to fund these signs.

That Councillor W Lloyd should seek feedback from the parishioners of Llancillo as to how they would like EHGPC to pursue this matter..

4.4

Access to Ewyas Harold Common

Letters from Christine Palmer and Gwen Roberts were noted.

The conclusive maps of Registered Common Land and Open Country were available for review at the end of the Parish Meeting.

That these maps should be given to the Footpaths Officer so that a report could be prepared for the next meeting.

Councillor P Jinman reported that there had been a good response to the questionnaire distributed by Rhys Millar of Herefordshire Nature Trust and that a report would be made later this year, hopefully to coincide with the AGM of the Common Society.

Martins Well Water Supply

Councillor Mrs E Overstall read out a letter from Mr John Rogers highlighting the problem with maintaining this supply to those people in the village who have part mains supply. Anybody who has been sent the instruction to switch to mains only supply, and is unable to comply, should contact Mr Rogers.

Recreation Ground

5.1

Monthly Audit

No report was given this month.

That the Clerk would ascertain whether a site inspection had been made.

Contamination of Dulas Brook

The Clerk reported that the grass cuttings deposited on the bank of Dulas Brook had been removed

5.3

Main Gate

This has been repainted and Councillor G Sprackling has obtained a quote of £150 for the replacement signs. The actual wording of the signs will depend upon the designation of the Recreation Ground.

That the Clerk contact the dog warden to clarify the status of the Recreation Ground.

5.4

Sports Facilities

The User Group is requested to draw up plans for Sports facilities and present these at the next Parish Meeting.

Play Area

5.4.1

Embankment Slide

Copies of RoSPA’s comments re including a tunnel within the mound for the slide were given to Councillors.

Re-siting of the swings is required before construction of the mound for the slide.

5.4.3

Funding

Councillor Mrs E Overstall reported that she had received an expression of interest form from Clare Wychbold. This requires costings to be identified, as the sum claimed will govern to whom the application is made. Councillor Overstall also reported that the Big Lottery Fund was planning a children’s play programme.

Local Security Matters

    • Councillor G Sprackling reported that there had been a break-in at the pavilion, and drinks intended for the Coningsby Lodge booking in July had been stolen. The only damage was a broken window and this has now been repaired. The crime has been reported to the police and an incident number issued.
    • It was noted that there was still a problem getting residents to report incidents to the police and that the Wednesday meetings organised by the police were poorly attended.

That needs to be included as a Newsletter item.

    • Councillor Mrs E Overstall reported that the police had sent an invitation to the EHGPC for a representative to attend the opening of the new station at Peterchurch at 1.15pm on 31st August.
